Fans Gasp As Singer Ray LaMontagne Collapses Mid-Song At The Ryman

Grammy Award-winning singer Ray LaMontagne is on his Trouble 20th Anniversary Tour, which kicked off on August 23rd. His tour included two back-to-back nights on September 4th and 5th at Nashville’s famed Ryman Auditorium.
In June, his second show at the Ryman had sold out and the first show had extremely low tickets available.
Ray LaMontagne Ended Show Early After Collapsing On Stage
LaMontagne kicked off his September 5th show just like every other show, performing his hits “We’ll Make It Through,” “It Takes Me Back,” “Yearning,” and “Roll Me Mama, Roll Me.”
After singing a few more songs, LaMontagne was visibly confused and struggled during his song “Hannah,” restarting it twice. He apologized to the audience before moving on to “How Come.”
The singer continued on to his hit 2004 song “Jolene,” but he wasn’t able to finish it.
It looked like he was struggling to stand during the song, and then finally, his legs gave out and he collapsed on stage, causing the sold-out audience to gasp.
He was attended to immediately and helped off the stage. The concert ended at that point, five songs earlier than expected. Fans who attended the September 5th Ryman show described the venue as being unusually hot.
The entire country has been going through a heat wave, so it’s important for concert-goers, as well as the musicians themselves, to stay hydrated during the high temperature times.
In Denver, Colorado, nearly 30 audience members at a Garth Brooks pop-up show had to be treated by medics, with one even needing to be carried out of the venue.
LaMontagne’s Team Released A Statement
Shortly after the singer walked off stage, his team issued a statement on his Instagram Story.
“Thank you to everyone who came out to tonight’s show at the Ryman. Ray is in good hands with the local EMS and is being treated for heat related dehydration, he is doing well now and is grateful for everyone’s understanding.”
He must have recovered nicely because he was able to perform his full set at Louisville Palace Theater the very next night.
