Five Injured As Plane Skids And Bursts Into Flames

On Sunday, March 9th, a small aircraft holding five people crashed shortly after taking off from Lancaster Airport in Pennsylvania.

The FAA is investigating the crash, and the National Transportation Safety Board also confirmed it will investigate the fallen airplane.

The plane went down near a retirement village in Lancaster County. Authorities reported that the five passengers on board sustained injuries and were rushed to the hospital. Fortunately, no one on the ground was harmed, although the crash did damage 12 cars.

Chief of Police for Manheim Township, Duane Fisher, shared that all the passengers on board the plane survived.

“I don’t know if I consider it a miracle but the fact we have a plane crash where everybody survives and nobody on the ground is hurt is a wonderful thing,” said Chief Fisher.

He continued on to confirm that besides the damage to the plane and the cars, no buildings or onlookers were hurt, “At no point was anyone on the ground injured [and] at no point did the plane or aircraft strike the structure.”

Air traffic control confirmed that the pilot communicated with Lancaster Airport, stating that they were experiencing difficulties before the crash. The pilot shared that the plane “has an open door we need to return for landing.”

The aircraft skidded approximately 100 feet upon impact. After impact, the plane caught on fire.

Fire Chief Manheim Township Fire, Scott Little, shared, “Obviously, they had heavy fire upon arrival from the aircraft and had to extinguish it. At this point, it’s under control, and fire is all out.”

Donald Trump Responds To Growing Concerns About Air Travel

Concerns about air travel in the U.S. are on the rise, whether due to an increase in crashes or heightened reporting. The general consensus is that Americans are worried about air safety.

Donald Trump was questioned about the recent crash in Pennsylvania while aboard Air Force One. A reporter expressed concern over the Department of Transportation’s potential downsizing under President Trump’s and Elon Musk’s DOGE initiative.

The reporter wondered if there was a connection between government downsizing and increased worries about air travel.

Trump responded by noting that the plane that crashed in Pennsylvania was a small aircraft, and he stated, “That was a small plane, and that would have happened whether you had a big department or a small department.”

He then added, “they have times when things happen a little bit more often than normal, and then it goes back, and you go many years without having a problem.”
