‘Grand Theft Auto VI’ Features Exclusive New Morgan Wallen Song

The song may be called “Last Thing You Need,” but Morgan Wallen‘s new song is exactly what his fans needed.
Released on Thursday, Sept. 17, this new song is being released as part of the soundtrack to the highly anticipated video game Grand Theft Auto VI.
While the game is not expected to be released until Nov. 19, listeners can enjoy this Wallen song starting today.

Listen To Morgan Wallen’s New Song, “Last Thing You Need”
Earlier this week, on Tuesday, Sept. 15, Morgan Wallen shared an image with no context, but many recognized that it had the animation style associated with Rockstar Games’ video game franchise Grand Theft Auto.
That image showed the inside of an empty swimming pool, not unlike the one in Wallen’s 2017 music video for “The Way I Talk.”
Then, just a couple days later, on Sept. 17, Wallen announced on social media that he had a new song out, titled “Last Thing You Need,” released as part of Grand Theft Auto VI: The Album.
Continuing in the vein of the soundscape Wallen has been developing since the release of his 2025 triple album I’m The Problem, the song “Last Thing You Need” has an ethereal quality to it.
Blending his country twang with danceable, trance-inducing music, the song has strong repeat-value — something that players of the upcoming Grand Theft Auto game may enjoy.
In 2026, “Last Thing You Need” follows the release of Wallen’s single “Been By Now,” as well as his collaborative work with Ella Langley on “I Can’t Love You Anymore” and with HARDY, Eric Church, and Tim McGraw on “McArthur.”

Fans React To Morgan Wallen Having A Song On The New ‘Grand Theft Auto’ Soundtrack
The release of this song before the release of the new Grand Theft Auto game has prompted many fans to share comments expressing, “We got Morgan Wallen in GTA 6 before GTA 6.”
That sentiment has been a popular meme in the months and years leading up to the release of the video game, as the first trailer for Grand Theft Auto VI was released in December of 2023.
Many other fans shared on Wallen’s announcement about “Last Thing You Need” that they were excited to be able to play the upcoming game while listening to his music.
One fan wrote, “Imagine swooping ur boy up bumping last thing you need. And you’re about to go rob your other boy.”
Another fan wrote, “Gonna be riding through them GTA backroads listening to Morgan.”
Humorously, one person wrote, “Damn I get to steal jets and drop bombs while listening to this? Hell yeah.”
