Gretchen Wilson Joins Ashley McBryde For Surprise “Redneck Woman” Duet At CMA Fest

Celebrating 20 Years Since Gretchen Wilson’s “Redneck Woman” Debuted

Fans who gathered at Nissan Stadium for night one of CMA Fest were treated to a surprise duet between Ashley McBryde and Gretchen Wilson.

Wilson burst onto the scene in 2004 with the release of her debut single, “Redneck Woman.” The fiesty track claimed the #1 spot on Billboard’s Hot Country Songs chart and the #22 spot on the all-genre Hot 100 chart.

The track led Wilson to a Grammy win in the Best Female Country Performance category in 2005. It’s also been certified Platinum by the RIAA.

“Redneck Woman” includes references to country superstars Tanya Tucker and Hank Williams Jr., who both appeared in the music video. CMT ranked the video at the #11 spot on its 100 Greatest Videos TV special in 2008.

When Rolling Stone released its 200 Greatest Country Songs of All Time ranking in 2024, the publication listed “Redneck Woman” at the 197th spot.

Ashley McBryde Surprises CMA Fest By Bringing Gretchen Wilson Onstage

“Redneck Woman” officially turned 20 on March 15, 2024. Wilson continued the celebration at CMA Fest when she joined Grand Ole Opry member Ashley McBryde to perform the song.

McBryde, who is also the co-host of the upcoming CMA Fest TV special, was one of the headliners at Nissan Stadium on the first night of the festival (June 6). She delivered an epic surprise when she welcomed Wilson to the stage, and they launched into a “Redneck Woman” duet.
