Remembering Greg Biffle

On Sunday, February 15, the 2026 Daytona 500 will officially kick off the NASCAR season.

But this year, the day will carry extra meaning because multiple tributes are planned to honor the late racing legend Greg Biffle, who passed away in December.

On December 18, news broke that a Cessna C550 business jet owned by Biffle had crashed at Statesville Regional Airport, just north of Charlotte, North Carolina.

Later reports confirmed that Biffle, his wife Cristina, their children, Emma and Ryder, and close friend Craig Wadsworth were all on board.

The pilot at the time, Dennis Dutton, and his son, Jack Dutton, were also passengers. Tragically, there were no survivors.

The investigation into the cause of the crash is still ongoing. Early reports state that the plane had turned back and was attempting to land at the airport shortly after takeoff when the accident happened.

NASCAR To Honor Greg Biffle During The Daytona 500

During the Daytona 500, many will honor Biffle’s memory in several ways.

His former team, RFK Racing, announced it will change the font of its car numbers to the iconic font style that Biffle once ran.

The tribute will appear on Brad Keselowski’s No.6 car, Chris Buescher’s No. 17, Ryan Preece’s No. 60, and Corey LaJoie’s No. 99.

Ricky Stenhouse Jr. and AJ Allmendinger will also change their car number font out of respect, along with four Niece Motorsports trucks taking part in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series race.

Additionally, fans tuning in to the races earlier in the weekend will notice cars and trucks featuring a “Be Like Biff” sticker as another way to remember his legacy.

The Daytona 500 will air on FOX this Sunday, February 15, at 2:30 p.m. ET.
