One of the youngest voices in country music with a heart for traditional and country music of the past is John Foster.

The Season 23 American Idol runner-up routinely incorporates classic country music into his sets, which has even contributed to him becoming a bit of a regular at the Grand Ole Opry.

In light of the Oct. 21 death of country artist John Anderson, who was 71, John Foster took to social media, sharing a video of himself performing Anderson’s iconic song “Seminole Wind.”

In the evening of Thursday, Oct. 22, John Foster shared a video to his Instagram of himself performing John Anderson’s “Seminole Wind.”

The song, which was written and recorded in 1992 by Anderson, is the title track for Anderson’s 12th studio album.

Over the years, “Seminole Wind” has endured, and even become a rallying call for Florida State University athletic events, where the mascot is the Seminoles.

It also had an incredible music video (which can be seen below), with Anderson dealing very respectfully with the representation of Native Americans in the artful video.

For John Foster, who is 20 years old, the song “Seminole Wind” is something he plays with respect and skill in his Oct. 22 social media video.

Joined by aspiring self-proclaimed “honky tonk hero” Rocco Gorelik, who is a guitarist from Atlanta, Georgia, the two sing and play together with marvelous results.

Near the end of their social media cover of “Seminole Wind,” Gorelik gets to show off his impressive guitar picking.

Writing on social media about their performance, while also noting he has a new song on the horizon, Foster said, “Check out my new buddy [Rocco Gorelik’s] pickin’ and singin’ as we pay tribute to one of the best to ever do it: the legendary John Anderson. We wrote a great ol’ country song together and can’t wait to show it to y’all.”
