Kelly Clarkson proved once again that she is a country girl at heart with her latest Kellyoke cover.

Kelly Clarkson Covers “Smell Like Smoke”

In the latest Kellyoke segment, Kelly Clarkson and her band, My Band Y’all, belted out a cover of Lainey Wilson’s “Smell Like Smoke.”

“Kellyoke” has solidified its place as a regular feature on The Kelly Clarkson Show, demonstrating Clarkson’s versatility as she puts her unique spin on songs spanning various genres. However, it’s no secret that country tunes hold a special place in her heart, often being her go-to choice during these segments.

The timing of this particular cover couldn’t have been more perfect, as it followed closely on the heels of Lainey Wilson’s recent appearance on The Kelly Clarkson Show earlier in the week. While Clarkson typically takes the spotlight solo during Kellyoke, the opportunity to team up with Lainey Wilson was too good of an opportunity to pass up.

The two singers ended up performing a rendition of Wilson’s newest track “Country’s Cool Again.”

The two powerful singers rocked the stage, showing off their skills and making fans wonder: When is Kelly Clarkson going to put out a country album?

Lainey Wilson Is Making Country Cool Again

Aside from being a fan-favorite on The Kelly Clarkson Show, Lainey Wilson is gearing up to release new music, recently releasing her single “Country’s Cool Again.” The song celebrates the renewed popularity of country music today, drawing on Lainey’s childhood memories of country living and the now glorified trend of cowboy culture.

Everybody wanna be a cowboy / Drive a John boat whip a John Deere / Everybody wanna backwoods front porch/ With a tub full of iced down beer / Must be something in water flowing out of the holler / Doggone daggummit / Didn’t see that coming/ Country’s cool again

Notably, the single shares its name with her upcoming tour, kicking off in Nashville on May 31st. This tour, running from May to November, will stop at 37 cities nationwide.
