Kelly Clarkson Releases “I’d Be Lyin'” – Her First New Song In Over A Year
on Jul 17, 2026

Kelly Clarkson just dropped a new single that’s perfect for your summer playlist.
On Friday, July 17, Kelly released her latest single, “I’d Be Lyin’.” The track is her first new music release in over a year, following her previous single, “Where Have You Been,” which came out in May 2025.
Just days before releasing the song, Kelly teased the track on her Instagram. She shared a black-and-white video of herself singing a few of the lyrics while recording in the studio.
“I’d be lyin’ if I said I do / You’re hearing only what you’re wanting to / I take a shot every time you lie / I’ve never been so damn drunk in my life”
Then on her SiriusXM channel, The Kelly Clarkson Connection, she gave fans some insight into the meaning behind the anthem.
“So basically my new song, ‘I’d Be Lyin’,’ is about when you’re talking to someone and it’s like, what you’re saying is somehow being filtered because it’s not what they’re hearing. And if I just leaned in and just said what they wanted to hear, I would be lying,” she explained.
Kelly added that the lyrics are “very sarcastic,” and that the song was “fun as hell to make.”
“The vibe in the verse is kind of, it’s not like Prince, but it’s definitely Prince-inspired with the staccato kind of poppiness of it,” she continued. “It has a lot of attitude, and then the chorus kind of opens up into this major pop-rock vibe that is very reminiscent of a Kelly Clarkson empowerment anthem.”

Is More New Music From Kelly Clarkson On The Way?
Could this new song release be a sign that fans are about to get even more new music from Kelly? Well, nothing has been confirmed, but it’s definitely possible.
The singer has a little more time these days to focus on her music career, now that she’s no longer hosting a daytime talk show.
She announced that The Kelly Clarkson Show would be coming to an end in a statement shared in February. Filming has officially wrapped, and according to the show’s director of digital, the final episode is set to air on August 31.
It won’t be long until Kelly is back on television, though. She will be joining Season 30 of The Voice.
Kelly will be one of four coaches guiding hopeful contestants while they compete for the chance to win the entire competition. Joining her this season are Adam Levine, Queen Latifah, and Riley Green.
The Voice Season 30 will premiere on Monday, September 21.
