Kid Rock And Eminem Set Differences Aside To Collaborate On Christian Album
on • Updated

“We have a saying in Detroit that is, ‘Tough times don’t last, tough people do.'”
– Kid Rock, speaking on My View with Lara Trump
Kid Rock has known Eminem since the release of his own debut album in 1990, but the two artists from Detroit, Michigan, had only performed together on one song, Kid Rock’s 1998 song “F*** Off.”
That track was featured on Kid Rock’s Devil Without A Cause, but, nearly three decades later, it’s no longer the only album the two artists have collaborated on.
Now, Kid Rock is turning his attention to his Christian faith, and he’s partnering up with Eminem to “sing unto the Lord a new song,” just as Psalm 96:1 called for… and their partnership finds them crossing the political divide.

On Saturday, Oct. 11, Kid Rock gave an interview on the Fox News program My View with Lara Trump, in which he opened up about his upcoming Christian album, Halfway 2 Jesus, and the unlikely collaboration it features with another music icon from Detroit: Eminem.
Noting it’s been almost 30 years since he and Eminem collaborated on Devil Without A Cause, Kid Rock said, “We said years ago, we said, ‘Man, let’s not let politics divide us.’ We never did.”
Of course, Kid Rock is an outspoken conservative, forging several friendships with members of the Trump administration, including President Donald Trump himself. He also was the headliner for the Turning Point USA “All-American Halftime Show,” which was designed to be counter-programming to the Super Bowl’s halftime show with Puerto Rican rapper Bad Bunny.
On the other hand, Eminem has been critical of the Trump administration, and he also endorsed then Vice President Kamala Harris in her bid for the White House in 2024.
Back in 2024, Kid Rock lauded Eminem for endorsing anyone for president, saying, “I don’t agree with his politics, but I do give credit to him and people like Taylor Swift for standing up and not being afraid to be vocal for that in which they believe.”
This week, on Saturday, Oct. 17, Kid Rock will be releasing Halfway 2 Heaven, a Christian album that includes a song titled “7 Sins,” featuring Eminem.
Sharing with Lara Trump about the songwriting process, Kid Rock noted that Eminem “totally got it,” adding, “He knew how important it was.”
Continuing, Kid Rock stated that “two little, foulmouth rappers — white rappers — from Detroit” could “set a good example for the rest of this country.”
He then said, “It’s OK … to differ politically and still be friends.”
Speaking broadly on working with people who you don’t always agree with, Kid Rock said:
“Thinking differently and having the freedom to do so is what makes this country great.”
Wrapping up his remarks on working with Eminem, Kid Rock expressed his thanks to Eminem, saying, “I’m so thankful he’s on the record. He’s been a tremendous friend for almost 40 years. I’ve always told people what a great father he is. He’s just a class act all the way around.”
When asked what advice he has for the American people, Kid Rock initially replied simply, “Be cool.”
Expounding on that, he stated, “There’s not too much that’s worth all of this division. We’re stronger together — everyone knows the clichés — we’re stronger together than we are divided. There’s a lot of powers — a lot of forces —around the world that are absolutely trying to divide us.”
Directing his comments to the media, he said, “I wish the media would try to have a little more grace. Just report the facts. We can make up our own minds. We’re not stupid people, we can figure things out for our own. Be cool.”
