Lainey Wilson Honors 9/11 Victims With Powerful “Amazing Grace” Performance

25 years after the deadly terror attacks that killed nearly 3,000 Americans, the nation came together to remember the victims for a televised event.

Every year since 2002, the one-year anniversary of the September 11, 2001, attacks, people have gathered at the site where the Twin Towers once stood in Lower Manhattan. For the first time in 25 years, the commemoration was broadcast live.

Country Star Lainey Wilson Honored the Victims of 9/11

Lainey Wilson, Cyndi Lauper, and Five For Fighting’s John Ondrasik honored the victims through song. Each artist performed beneath the iconic double beams at the Tribute in Light.

Every September 11 since 2002, the Tribute in Light has been on display, lighting up the New York sky. The tribute features two white beams, representing the Twin Towers, that shine four miles into the sky. The display is visible for 60 miles around Lower Manhattan.

Prior to Friday’s performance, Lainey Wilson said that she was honored to be a part of the historic moment recognizing “first responders, families, and communities” whose service ” affected by the tragedy.

“The courage, bravery, and heroism displayed in response to 9/11 is a reminder of who we are as Americans and the strength and compassion we show one another at our most difficult moments,” said Wilson in a statement

Lainey chose to sing “Amazing Grace,” prompting an immediate outpour of support on social media.

Viewers took to social media to praise Lainey’s performance, admitting that they were brought to tears by the moving rendition.

Wilson ditched her signature bell-bottom and cowgirl hat look for a black suit as she sang the beloved hymn backed by a choir.
