Being a successful country artist is largely tied to one’s ability to communicate through song.

However, performing for live audiences also requires for one to communicate visually, engaging with people at the back of a stadium as much as those who are seated on the front row.

Lauren Alaina and Kane Brown recently demonstrated their prowess at pantomime, uploading a humorous video featuring their spouses.

In it, they competed to see who was able to act out a series of prompts the best, like pretending they’re walking down a flight of stairs or taking an elevator.

Lauren Alaina and Kane Brown have been friends for decades, having gone to middle school together in Georgia.

Ten years ago, in 2016, Lauren and Kane collaborated on the song “What Ifs,” and they followed that song up a decade later with this year’s new release, “Never Been In Love.”

On Tuesday, Aug. 4, the longtime friends were joined by their spouses, Cam Arnold and Katelyn Brown, as they engaged in a video contest to see who could visually act out a series of prompts.

Set to Michael Jackson’s “Beat It,” this video is reminiscent of the “walk-off” scene from the comedy Zoolander (2001), which was also set to the Jackson tune.

Moderated in the film by David Bowie, the rock icon outlined the rules of the walk-off, saying, “Now, this’ll be a straight walk-off, old school rules. First model walks; second model duplicates, then elaborates.”

Here, Lauren, Kane, and their spouses essentially are following the same format, with some elaborations sealing the deal on who did the best with each pantomime prompt.

The first prompt was a “trap door,” with each acting like an imaginary rope on the ceiling activated a trap door at their feet.

Next, they tackled the classic party trick of going down the imaginary stairs behind the kitchen island.

The third task found them going down an imaginary escalator.

Lastly, the fourth prompt found them pretending to go down an elevator.

Throughout these prompts, Lauren’s husband, Cam, found clever ways to do other things — like being on the phone while going down the escalator — adding to the believability of his pantomime efforts.

However, it was Kane Brown’s wife, Katelyn, who was most consistently the standout performer in this contest.

One Instagram user commented, “Not even close…Katelyn smoked ya’ll.”

Even Lauren complimented Katelyn’s skills in her caption for the video, writing that she thought Katelyn “absolutely nailed this.”
