The History Behind “Ain’t No Love In Oklahoma”
Combs co-wrote “Ain’t No Love in Oklahoma” with Jessi Alexander and Jonathan Singleton. They wrote the song specifically for the 2024 film Twisters, a sequel to 1996’s Twister.
The “Twister” theme rolls throughout the song’s lyrics, especially the chorus, as Combs sings:
“Ain’t no love in Oklahoma.
Just the whistle of a long black train.
You’ll know when it’s comin’ for ya,
Ridin’ in on the wind and rain.”
“Ain’t No Love in Oklahoma” reached the #1 spot on the Billboard Country Airplay chart. The song also crossed over to claim the 13th slot on the all-genre Billboard Hot 100 chart.
Its official music video dropped on May 16 and now has over 29 million views on YouTube.
Combs and his co-writers recently earned a Grammy nomination for “Ain’t No Love in Oklahoma.” The song was nominated in the Best Song Written for Visual Media category.
But before the Grammys in February, Combs brought “Ain’t No Love in Oklahoma” to the CMA Awards.
