Miranda Lambert Finally Addresses Rumors Claiming She Punched Chad Kroeger In The Face
on • Updated

Miranda Lambert is clarifying what really happened during an alleged bar fight with Nickelback frontman Chad Kroeger.
You may have heard the story before. In 2010, news spread that Lambert and Kroeger got into a heated argument while they were at a bar together. A long-running rumor even claimed that Lambert punched Kroeger in the face.
Lambert appeared on The New York Times’ Popcast on Thursday, October 1. During the interview, co-host Joe Coscarelli saved the big question for the final few minutes.
“True or false: you hit Chad Kroeger in the face,” he asked Lambert.
The “Kerosene” singer admitted she was “nervous” to talk about it. But it turns out that the rumors don’t quite match what really happened.
Lambert made it clear that she didn’t punch Kroeger, but she did do something else.
“I threw moonshine on his face,” she admitted. “I did do that.”
We still don’t know what led to the fight, but Lambert said, “It was just a late night, and no one was in their best state.” However, when she was asked if the moment was supposed to be “playful and mischievous,” she confirmed that it wasn’t.
“I don’t know if we’re fine now, but I don’t care,” she said.

This was the first time Lambert had publicly talked about the bar fight. Kroeger has never mentioned it either.
The only other time the incident came up was in 2014, when her then-husband, Blake Shelton, brought it up during her cover story for Rolling Stone.
“People always try to pop off or call her bluff at bars,” Shelton said. “One of them I don’t want to say the guy’s name, but he’s the lead singer of a very popular rock band.”
Shelton then added that “his initials are C.K.”
Miranda Lambert Releases New Album, Crisco
Lambert didn’t necessarily plan to talk about the decade-old rumor during her interview. She appeared on the podcast to promote her new album Crisco, which officially dropped on Friday, October 2.
The album is her first release with her new record label, MCA, and is a new era for the country star. Each song blends country and disco, giving the project a sound that’s different from any of her previous work.
Crisco features 12 tracks, including two duets: one with Ella Langley and another with Chris Stapleton.
