The Salvation Army has tapped Texas native Miranda Lambert to perform during the annual Red Kettle Kick-Off this fall.

Each year, the nonprofit launches its season of giving with a live, nationally televised performance during the most-watched regular-season NFL game. The Red Kettle Campaign raises funds to help local programs providing food, shelter, rent and utility assistance, disaster relief, youth services, and Christmas gifts for families.

2026 marks the 136th anniversary of the campaign and the 30th consecutive Thanksgiving halftime show. For more than three decades, the kickoff performance has served as a holiday tradition, leveraging one of sports’ biggest national stages to help raise more than $3.4 billion for the initiative.

Miranda shared in a press release:

“There’s something special about how music brings people together, especially when it’s to spread joy and hope to families who need it most. The Salvation Army and the Dallas Cowboys have built an incredible tradition with the Red Kettle Kickoff, and I can’t wait to be back home in Texas this Thanksgiving to help carry it forward.”

Reba McEntire performed for the inaugural Red Kettle Kickoff in 1997. Over the years, country music artists have regularly been involved in the campaign. Past headliners include Toby Keith, Carrie Underwood, Luke Combs, Dolly Parton, Lainey Wilson, and, most recently, Post Malone.

Charlotte Jones, chief brand officer and co-owner of the Dallas Cowboys and former national advisory board chairman for The Salvation Army shared:

“The Red Kettle Kickoff has become one of the Dallas Cowboys’ proudest traditions and one my family and our entire organization look forward to every Thanksgiving. For 30 years, incredible artists have appeared on our halftime stage to help The Salvation Army bring hope to millions of people in need. We’re grateful to Miranda Lambert for joining that legacy and helping us continue this meaningful tradition.”

Miranda’s Texas roots run deep, having been born in Longview and raised in Lindale. Her home state has had a large influence on her music, and she recently teamed with longtime collaborator Jon Randall to launch their own imprint, Big Loud Texas, in partnership with Big Loud Records.
