Morgan Wallen Delivers Shocking Piano Flip At Denver Show
on May 30, 2026 • Updated Jun 02, 2026

Generally, when Morgan Wallen performs “Sand In My Boots,” it’s one of the quieter moments of his shows.
The song’s lyrics and tone are forlorn, looking back on a romance that never quite had its moment to shine.
Lately, while on the 2025 I’m The Problem Tour and the 2026 Still The Problem Tour, he’s been performing the song from behind an upright piano.
Sometimes, Morgan has even performed the song as a duet, bringing out Ella Langley — who has been opening for him on several shows, and even routinely sings “What I Want” and “I Can’t Love You Anymore” as a duet with Wallen.
However, at his Friday, May 29, show at Empower Field at Mile High in Denver, Colorado, the song went from calm to a place of palpable frustration pretty swiftly, and it ended with a bang.

Partway through the song, Morgan gave up on sitting at the piano.
Standing, he finished the song, largely a cappella.
As he sang out the final phrase of “but all I brought back with me was some sand in my boots,” he then turned his attention to the piano and approached it.
Pushing it, he then put some back into it, and the piano tipped over.

Online, there had been some fans who said there were sound issues throughout the May 29 show. The frustration on his face during the performance, followed by flipping the piano over, seems to speak to the pervasiveness of that problem.
Commenting on his decision to flip the piano over, one fan wrote on TikTok, “Poor guy must be going through some s*** lol.”
Since then, on June 1, Morgan has provided an update on the status of his piano, saying that he’s been told, “Right now, this piano is working.”
He captioned the video, writing, “Can’t you tell I’m so distraught over my piano.”

According to Morgan Wallen’s father, Pastor Tommy Wallen, Morgan is living sober.

It remains to be seen if he’ll have a new piano for night 2 of his tour stop in Denver, which is tonight, May 30.
