There Has Been Another Alarming Plane Crash

In recent months, several tragic events have involved planes and aircraft.

It began with an American airline jet colliding with an army helicopter, resulting in the loss of 67 lives.

Just as the nation was still reeling from that tragedy, a medical jet went down in Philadelphia, and a regional plane crashed in remote Alaska, both of which also resulted in fatalities.

The troubling pattern of incidents continued on February 17 when a Delta Airlines flight from Minneapolis to Toronto crashed.

The Delta 4819 flight arrived just after 2:30 PM local time and appeared to be landing normally. However, once it hit the tarmac, the plane began to flip entirely, losing its right wing and ending up upside down with all the passengers inside.

The pilot and crew are considered heroes because, despite the chaos, all passengers survived. 18 were injured, and three were taken to local hospitals. The situation could have been much worse.

While the exact reason for the plane’s flip after landing remains unclear, there is speculation that it might have been related to the 8 inches of snow or the strong winds at the time. However, nothing has been confirmed.

Passenger Pete Carlson Shared A First-Hand Account Of The Crash

Only six hours after the frightening crash, passenger Pete Carlson spoke with CBC News reporter Adrienne Arsenault to recount his experience.

He was still smelling of gas from the plane and had visible injuries as he explained the terrifying event.

Carlson was flying to Toronto for a paramedic conference. He described the moment as a “blink,” and when asked by the reporter what happened, he recalled:

“We’re coming into land and there have been comments early in the flight about strong winds, and as we made our descent and made touchdown, it was just a very forceful event where all of a sudden everything just kind of went sideways, and then next thing I know is kind of a blink and I’m upside down, still strapped in.”

When pressed for more information about whether the plane flipped forward or to its side, he responded:

“I believe it was kind of lateral or side roll based on kind of what we saw when we got out, but again very disorienting to, you know, the one minute you’re landing, kind of waiting to see your friends and your people, and the next minute you’re physically upside down and just really turned around, but it sounded, I mean it was just cement and metal, you know.”

Carlson shared that the event brought everyone together.

He said, “Everyone on that plane suddenly became very close in terms of how to help one another and console one another, and that was powerful, but yeah, there was definite. What now? Who’s leading? How do we find ourselves away from this?”
