Fans wondered who would fill Sajak’s shoes. It was rumored that American Idol host Ryan Seacrest would be taking his place. Those rumors went unconfirmed until Wednesday (June 27), when the show announced that Seacrest is the new host.

Wheel of Fortune said Seacrest will take over in 2024. He addressed his new role in a statement of his own, saying:

“Im truly humbled to be stepping into the footsteps of the legendary Pat Sajak. I can say, along with the rest of America, that it’s been a privilege and pure joy to watch Pat and Vanna on our television screens for an unprecedented 40 years, making us smile every night and feel right at home with them. I look forward to learning everything I can from you during this transition.”

Seacrest also seemed to confirm that letter turner Vanna White is returning. Since she and Sajak have hosted Wheel of Fortune together for so long, fans wondered if she’d leave with him.

Although it has not been officially confirmed if White is staying or not, Seacrest did say, “I can’t wait to continue the tradition of spinning the wheel and working alongside the great Vanna White.”
