Patty Loveless was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 2023. This year (2026), she helped welcome the newest class of inductees with a beautiful performance.

Paul Overstreet, The Stanley Brothers, and Tim McGraw were inducted into the CMHOF on Sunday, October 18. The CMHOF hosted a Medallion Ceremony to celebrate the inductees, featuring performances by artists including Lady A, Lainey Wilson, and Blake Shelton.

Patty Loveless also made a rare public appearance to sing in tribute to all of the inductees. The Tennessean reports that she sang the classic tune “Will the Circle Be Unbroken?” to close the ceremony.

Written in 1907 by Ada R. Habershon, with the music composed by Charles H. Gabriel, “Will the Circle Be Unbroken?” has become a country music staple. It’s been performed by many notable acts over the years, including The Carter Family, Bill and Charlie Monroe, and 2026 CMHOF inductees The Stanley Brothers.

The 2026 CMHOF Medallion Ceremony did not air on TV. But the Hall offered an inside look into the celebration through a video they shared on social media.

The video includes some quick glimpses at a few of the tribute performances, but the only one you can actually hear is Loveless’. Her graceful voice carries throughout the video, as she sings the beloved words of “Will the Circle Be Unbroken?”

You can (briefly) watch and listen to Patty Loveless perform at the 2026 CMHOF Medallion Ceremony in the video below. She never ceases to amaze!

Has Patty Loveless Retired?

Loveless’ performance at the CMHOF was notable because the 69-year-old singer doesn’t step into the spotlight that often anymore. Loveless basically retired in 2009 and only makes a few appearances each year.

She once shared the selfless reason why she chose to live a more private life. She wanted to focus on her husband, Emory Gordy Jr., who had been in poor health.

“There have been a couple of times that I thought I was going to lose Emory and I’m so thankful that he’s still here with me,” Loveless told Women’s World in 2023.

Now more than ever, Loveless is treasuring every moment she has with her husband. When she had a busier schedule, she would go as long as 20-30 days without seeing him.

She continued to say, “I find pleasure in being with him [now] because I traveled so much over the years, and a lot of people think because we were married, we were together, but we weren’t together as much as I wanted to be.”

Loveless now lives in Georgia, but still makes the trek to Nashville from time to time. The day before she sang at the CMHOF, she appeared at the Grand Ole Opry to celebrate her longtime friend, Vince Gill.

They hosted a huge show to mark Gill’s 35th anniversary as an Opry member. See some photos of Loveless on the Opry stage by scrolling through the slideshow below.
