Pierce Brosnan, the actor known for his role as James Bond, has pleaded guilty to violating regulations at Yellowstone National Park.
Pierce Brosnan Pleads Guilty To Park Violations
According to court documents obtained by USA Today, it was revealed that Pierce Brosnan admitted to straying off the designated trail within a thermal area during his visit to Yellowstone National Park on November 1, 2023. Additionally, he was given another violation for allegedly disregarding a closure at Mammoth Hot Springs on the same day.
Following these charges, Brosnan made a virtual appearance in court to address his actions, reversing his earlier plea of not guilty from January and instead pleading guilty to the charges.
As per the court’s ruling, he was fined $500 and directed to donate $1,000 to Yellowstone Forever, a nonprofit organization supporting the park’s conservation efforts, by as late as April 1.
Pierce Brosnan Makes Public Apology
On his Instagram account, Pierce Brosnan publicly addressed the Yellowstone National Park violation incident by posting a carousel of photos featuring the Yellowstone landscape, accompanied by an apology. The caption expressed remorse for his actions and acknowledged the seriousness of the offenses committed during his visit to the park.
“As an environmentalist I have the utmost respect for and love of our natural world. However, I made an impulsive mistake – one that I do not take lightly – when entering a thermal area covered in snow in Yellowstone National Park to take a photograph,” he wrote.
Brosnan continued, “I did not see a “No Trespassing” sign posted that warned of danger nor did I hike in the immediate area. I deeply regret my transgression and offer my heartfelt apologies to all for trespassing in this sensitive area. Yellowstone and all our National Parks are to be cared for and preserved for all to enjoy.”
