Riley Green Breaks His Own Promise With Surprising ‘The Voice’ Team Addition

The Voice Season 30 Blind Auditions are underway, and it’s gearing up to be a big season for country singers.
Riley Green made his debut as a coach on The Voice during Monday night’s season premiere.
Green made it clear that he hopes to take home the trophy by landing some of the night’s best acts.

Riley won the season’s first 4-chair turn and acquired sister act Ferryn and Brinkley from Sevierville, Tennessee. He also added 19-year-old Joe Henley to his roster, giving him a solid foundation moving forward.
During Monday’s episode (September 21), Green shared that his strategy for winning the season was to fill his team with country singers.
“I want to get all of them,” he confessed. “Because I think there’s a great chance of a country artist winning the whole show.”
Who Did Riley Green Add To His The Voice Team On Night Two?
Riley continued to add to his roster during the second night of Blind Auditions, but unintentionally added an artist who wasn’t a dedicated country singer.
Harmony McKee had never performed a country song prior to her Voice audition. The 19-year-old Tennessee native’s genre is normally R&B and Soul and “bluesy rock stuff”, but she chose to sing Miranda Lambert‘s “Gunpowder & Lead” because she felt like she could ” do a lot with it.”
Harmony earned chair turns from Riley Green and Adam Levine after her fiery performance. Both coaches were surprised when McKee announced that she is not a country artist and had never performed a country song before.
Adam Levine celebrated the news, knowing that it increased his chances of securing McKee for his team.
But Harmony and Riley bonded over having developed a love for Johnny Cash from their grandpas. Kelly Clarkson encouraged McKee to join Team Riley because the country singer doesn’t have anyone on his team that sounds like her, and she will stand out when it comes time for the public to vote.
Harmony ultimately chose to join Riley Green’s team, and Riley was thrilled to have her.
“I’m so happy I got Harmony. She really made that song her own. The way she took over the stage. She’ll definitely be a big star,” Riley said.
