Shelby Blackstock Shares Heart-Tugging Tribute To Brother Brandon On 1st Anniversary Of His Death
on

Shelby Blackstock is remembering his big brother, Brandon, and recognizing the impact he had on his life.
Brandon Blackstock was the son of talent manager Narvel Blackstock and his first wife, Elisa (Ritter) Gilbert. Narvel and Elisa also had two daughters, Shawna and Chassidy.
The couple eventually divorced, and Narvel married country music superstar Reba McEntire in 1989 (they split in 2015). Shelby is their son, and he was born in 1990.
Brandon followed in his father’s footsteps and became a talent manager himself, working with artists such as Blake Shelton, Rascal Flatts, and Kelly Clarkson (to whom he was married from 2013 to 2020).

Sadly, Brandon passed away on August 7, 2025, following a private, multi-year battle with cancer. He was only 48 years old.
This Friday was the first anniversary of Brandon’s death. Shelby honored his brother in a heart-tugging tribute post, writing:
“It’s been one year since we lost you… a void that can never be filled. It still doesn’t feel real. Sometimes it feels like we’re all just busy and overdue for a catch-up call. Then reality hits all over again. It’s a painful reminder every single day.”
Shelby, who is expecting his first child, a son named Archer, with his wife, Marissa, expressed how much he wishes Brandon were here to meet him. “But in a way, I like to think you already have,” he wrote.
Shelby credited Brandon for giving him confidence and helping him believe he could achieve anything, saying, “It’s one of the greatest gifts anyone has ever given me.”
He vowed to do his best to pass some of Brandon’s lessons on to Archer, before ending his post by writing, “We miss you. We love you. Every single day.”
His emotional tribute was accompanied by several photos of him and Brandon through the years, including several of them as children. See that post below.
Shelby Blackstock Promised To Keep Celebrating Brandon After His Death
After Brandon died in 2025, Shelby Blackstock wrote about the “tremendous loss” their family had suffered. He said, “Brandon Blackstock was an irreplaceable part of our family—funny, bright, and full of life—and he will be deeply missed.”
Although Brandon is no longer here, Shelby knows he will always feel his presence. Shelby promised to keep celebrating Brandon for the rest of his life, writing:
“We will always miss you, Brandon, and we will never stop loving, remembering and celebrating you.”
It’s obvious how much Brandon meant to his family members, especially Shelby. Our prayers go out to all of his loved ones on this difficult anniversary.
May Brandon rest in peace…
