Millions of votes were cast for the three finalists, and at the end of the night, Jamal Roberts was crowned the winner of the season. John Foster was named the runner-up, while Breanna Nix came in third place.
The day after the finale (May 19), Breanna celebrated as her single, “Higher,” claimed the #1 spot on the country songs chart on iTunes. She expressed her excitement on Instagram, writing:
“My song charted to #1 on iTunes in the country genre!! Let’s go!!!!! thank you SO much for your support and love!!! This is just the beginning.”
But Breanna isn’t the only Idol finalist experiencing success on iTunes!
Jamal Roberts, John Foster, And Breanna Nix Lead The iTunes Chart
As of Tuesday evening (May 20), the three Idol finalists are leading the all-genre songs chart on iTunes. Jamal’s “Heal” ranks at #1, Breanna’s “Higher” holds the #2 slot, and John’s “Tell That Angel I Love Her” ranks at #3.
Their songs are charting higher than tracks from established stars such as Morgan Wallen, Chappell Roan, Jelly Roll, Brandon Lake, Alex Warren, Cody Johnson, and Carrie Underwood.
Interestingly, several other songs within the Top 10 have ties to Idol. Jelly Roll performed “Liar” (ranked at #4) with Jamal during the finale. Jelly Roll and Brandon Lake previously sang “Hard Fought Hallelujah” (ranked #5) on the Idol Easter special.
Carrie Underwood sang “I’m Gonna Love You” (ranked #7) with Slater Nalley on the Idol finale. She surprised Slater mid-song by inviting her original duet partner, Cody Johnson, to join them onstage.
Rounding things out, Brandon Lake sang “Daddy’s DNA” (ranked #9) with Breanna during the Idol finale. Watch that performance below.
Based on their songs’ iTunes rankings, Jamal, John, and Breanna seem destined for big things! We wish them the best of luck in their careers.
