The new coaching lineup for The Voice is already proving that there is plenty of musical chemistry between them.

Ahead of the Season 30 premiere, Kelly Clarkson, Adam Levine, Queen Latifah and country star Riley Green teamed up for a special performance of The Band’s classic song “The Weight.” The performance gives fans an early glimpse at the dynamic between the four coaches, with each bringing a distinct musical style to the iconic track.

Green kicks things off by strumming an acoustic guitar, immediately giving the performance a warm, country feel, though he doesn’t sing solo until the third verse.

Levine then takes his place behind the drum kit and handles the opening verse before the other coaches join in.

When the chorus arrives, all four voices come together, creating a rich harmony that highlights just how different, and complementary, their musical backgrounds are.

Queen Latifah gets a chance to take the spotlight next, delivering her portion with the soulful presence fans have come to expect from the longtime entertainer.

Then comes one of the most memorable moments of the performance: Clarkson steps forward barefoot and delivers a powerful, soulful vocal that brings the performance to a close.

Originally released by The Band in 1968, “The Weight” has become one of the most enduring songs in rock history. Its relaxed, rootsy sound makes it a natural fit for a performance that brings together artists from country, pop, soul and hip-hop backgrounds.

Two Coaches Are Making Their Voice Debut

The performance also serves as a first look at the coaching chemistry fans can expect when The Voice returns for its milestone 30th season. Clarkson and Levine are returning veterans, while Green and Queen Latifah are making their coaching debuts.

Green, in particular, brings a country perspective to the panel and has already spoken about the fun of competing for artists alongside his fellow coaches.

If this performance is any indication, viewers can expect plenty of music, personality and friendly competition when Season 30 begins.
