Tim Curry, Iconic ‘Rocky Horror’ And ‘Home Alone 2’ Star, Dies At 80

English actor Tim Curry, known for his voice and eccentric characters, died at the age of 80 on Tuesday, Aug. 25.
The news of his death was announced on Wednesday, Aug. 26, with police telling TMZ it had responded to an Aug. 25 911 call at his Los Angeles, California, home at 11:23 p.m.
Curry — known for memorable roles like Dr. Frank-N-Furter in the cult rock opera The Rocky Horror Picture Show (1975), as well as the concierge in Home Alone 2: Lost In New York (1992) — suffered a strike in 2012.
Complications from the stroke saw the actor go through physical rehabilitation, even relearning how to speak. He would never walk again.
Known widely as a film actor, it was his acting in theatre that got him his start, and was central to his career. His big break as a stage talent came about in 1968, as he was part of the original London cast of the musical Hair.
Turning to the silver screen with The Rocky Horror Picture Show (1975), which co-starred Meatloaf and Susan Sarandon, that film holds the record for longest theatrical release in history, with a continuous screen run that continues to this day.
Other notable films that Curry starred in include Legend (1985), Clue (1995), and Muppet Treasure Island (1996).
He was also in The Hunt For Red October (1990), which co-stars the recently deceased actor Sam Neill.
Similarly, one of the co-stars in Home Alone 2, Academy Award winner Brenda Fricker, also passed away this year.
In addition to film roles, he also voiced Nigel Thornberry in the Nickelodeon cartoon series The Wild Thornerrys, which ran from 1998 to 2004.
Presently, a cause of death has not been disclosed.
