Tim McGraw Reveals How He & Faith Hill Have Kept Their Marriage Strong For 30 Years

Tim McGraw and Faith Hill have been married for 30 years now, so it’s safe to say they know a thing or two about keeping a marriage happy and healthy.
They first crossed paths in 1994 while attending a country radio seminar in Nashville. At the time, they were both in separate relationships.
They reconnected two years later when Faith joined Tim as the opening act in his Spontaneous Combustion Tour. They eventually ended their previous relationships to be together, and the rest is history.
In a recent interview with Esquire, Tim shared the best advice he could offer for making a marriage last. First and foremost, he says you need to have the “commitment that you want it to work.”
“People are so easy to walk away from troubled times or bad times, or times where you don’t get along,” Tim continues. “But going into a marriage and being in a marriage for a long time, you start to realize that, yeah, there are gonna be times you don’t like each other. There are times you don’t get along … but that’s not a reason to walk out the door.”
The “Something Like That” singer revealed that he and Faith agreed early in their relationship that walking away during an argument would never be how they handled their problems.
“Because the more you do that, that starts opening the door for that choice. It lessens the commitment, and it lessens the pride and respect that you have in your marriage,” he adds.
Tim also pointed out that he understands people change over time, which can sometimes drive couples apart. However, he sees beauty and opportunity in growing and changing together.
“You change as you grow older. And you change individually as you grow older, and you change as a couple as you grow older in time spent together,” he said. “And so the beauty, I think, in a long marriage, is you get the chance to fall in love with a new person every so often. Because people change.”

There’s no doubt Tim will continue to share his wisdom, especially now that his and Faith’s middle daughter, Maggie, is engaged.
Maggie, 28, said yes to marrying her longtime partner, James, back in August. Fans also got a look inside her elegant engagement party through a few Instagram posts her sister, Gracie, shared.
