Toby Keith Says His Cancer Diagnosis is “Devastating”

In an interview with News 9 at his Norman, Oklahoma home, Keith openly reflected on his diagnosis, discussing its impact on both his health and career. Describing the ordeal as “devastating,” he emphasized the importance of taking things day by day.

“This ailment…is devastating. You take it one day at a time. It’s a rollercoaster.”

Despite the hurdles, Keith knew that his goal was to continue doing what he loved to do.

The toll of the surgeries on his singing ability became evident as Keith revealed on the Bobby Bones Show that the procedure for stomach cancer affected his voice. Surgeons had to stitch his diaphragm, and coupled with nearly three years of not singing, he faced a tough challenge. However, Keith dedicated himself to strengthen his vocals again, proving his resilience.

He Finds Comfort and Motivation Through His Fans

Throughout the hardships, Keith found gratitude in the overwhelming support from people worldwide following his public announcement of the diagnosis. Surprised by the outpouring of love and prayers, he humbly admitted, “At first, I was like…’I didn’t know anyone cared that much.'”

With the motivation that he felt after receiving so much support from his fans, Toby Keith made a triumphant return to the stage with a three-show run at Dolby Love at Park MGM in Las Vegas.
