Recently, some newly engaged women have been posting about their engagement using a Randy Travis‘ song that couldn’t be further from being about a faithful relationship.

Over the past week, several women have shared videos online set to a Randy Travis song that doesn’t totally align with the intention behind the posts.
Using Randy’s very first single, his 1985 rendition of “On The Other Hand,” women are sharing pictures that show them with their fiancée, and as Randy sings the song’s title, they cut to a photo of their engagement ring.
Structured around hands, there’s one hand that is faithful, and the other that could choose infidelity.
The song’s big lyrical push is in its chorus, which finds Randy singing:
“But on the other hand, there’s a golden band / To remind me of someone who would not understand / On one hand, I could stay and be your lovin’ man / But the reason I must go is on the other hand.”
