Will Maren Morris Be The Next Artist To Open A Nashville Bar?

Maren Morris made a name for herself with her hit song “My Church” in 2016.

Morris always dreamed of becoming a country music artist. The singer tried out for countless singing competition shows including American Idol, The Voice, Nashville Star and America’s Got Talent, but she was sadly rejected from all of them. Maren was eventually convinced to move to Nashville by her friend and fellow-singer, Kacey Musgraves.

During her early days in Nashville, Morris devoted most of her time to songwriting. Her hard work started paying off as she landed a publishing deal and artists such as Tim McGraw and Kelly Clarkson started recording her songs. This resulted in Morris gaining popularity in Nashville, and led to the singer’s first record deal with Columbia Records. The Texas-native released her breakthrough album, Hero, in 2016 which contained her well-known song, “My Church.”

After its release, “My Church” quickly stood out to country music listeners. The song jumped to No. 15 on the Billboard “100 Best Pop Songs of 2016” chart, and later went on to win a Grammy Award for Best Country Solo Performance. Maren Morris compares her car’s radio to religion in “My Church.” She compares music to a church revival talking about how music gets her “cold heart burning.”

The 34-year-old recently made an appearance on The Late Show where she teased the idea of opening her own bar.

“Nashville is amazing…incredible music culture, food culture as well. But yeah, Tex-Mex they haven’t nailed it yet. Maybe that’s what my next thing should be. Not that I know anything about it,” the singer shared with Stephen Colbert.

The singer continued, “I’ve always wanted to open a bar in Nashville called ‘My Church,’ and it would be in an old church, maybe a Catholic one.”

If these dreams became a reality, Morris would join many other country stars such as Eric Church, Luke Bryan, and Jason Aldean who have opened businesses in Nashville.
