New music from Zach Top is less than a month away, but he just released a taste of what to expect.

Titled “Good Girls & Cowgirls,” this bluesy country song is catchy, reveling in the differences between girls you can take “to church” and those who are more on the “wild side.”

While the country artist known for his traditional country style won’t be releasing the song for another three weeks, an acoustic version of the song can be heard right now.

On Aug. 21, Zach Top will be releasing an EP, titled Good Girl & Cowgirls.

This two-track release will be his first new music of 2026, following his 2025 sophomore album, Ain’t In It For My Health; as well as a Christmas single, “Blue Christmas,” which was accompanied by an original Christmas tune and a cover of Dolly Parton’s “Hard Candy Christmas.”

On July 30, Zach posted a video of himself playing “Good Girls & Cowgirls” on his acoustic guitar, writing, “The acoustic version of the new track is live, go check it out.”

He also summed up the song’s message, succinctly writing, “Good girls go to heaven, cowgirls go wherever they want!”

Throughout the song, the divide between the so-called “good girls” and the “cowgirls” is defined, with good girls being made of “sugar and spice,” while cowgirls, he says, are “made of whiskey and ice.”

With great humor, Zach sings:

“Good girls, you can take home to Momma’s / Take ‘em to church when they want you to/ They’re everything nice and not much drama / If that’s your thing, that’s good for you.”

On the other hand, Zach sings the following of what cowgirls offer:

“Cowgirls like to take it outside / They love to dance and they know how to ride / They’ll do things to make you lose your mind / But, when the chips are down, they’ll be by your side.”

The other song on the upcoming EP is titled “Other Side of Hurtin’,” and the EP can be pre-saved on your preferred streaming platform, here.
