Adults-Only Water Park Surging With Out-Of-State Visitors After Viral Post

Adults from all around the United States have been flocking to one of the hottest growing places to have fun in the sun without kids and it’s called The Cove at Bear-X located in College Station, Texas.

“This summer is drastically different because we’re actually getting people that are coming from all over the U.S., from out of state and not just from Austin and Dallas and Houston,” CEO Heath Phillips told KBTX.

The Cove is an adults-only water park featuring a massive lazy river equipped with a swim-up bar that’s circling a highly fun and entertaining proflow surfing machine area.

There are cabana and VIP bungalows with jacuzzis for rent, and there’s a wakeboard cable park, yard games to play, live music to listen to, and a good pizza restaurant to get a bite to eat.

Phillips says The Cove has been open for six seasons and mostly was visited by the locals but this year a guest posted a video on TikTok in May and the post went viral reaching 2.5 million views. Since then, The Cove has been attracting many new out-of-town visitors.

“I opened my email up one Saturday and we had hundreds of reservation inquiries coming through and thousands of more followers on Instagram within a day,” Phillips told KBTX.

The CEO told the news station the TikTok video said “adults only” which really resonated with many adults who are looking for a fun place to go in the summer without children or young teenagers around.

“It’s a place where you’re an adult, but you get to go and experience fun again like when you were a kid,” Phillips told KBTX. “As we get older and become adults, you know responsibilities increase and life can be tough and our opportunities to have fun and experience joy slow down. So, we created a place where you can come to still have that fun.”

Aubrey Nettles, Marketing Manager of Economic Development and Tourism at Visit College Station said the spike in people visiting the city due to the waterpark is catching the attention of the city’s officials.

“It’s just tremendous for us, because when people come in, especially from out of town or out of state, not only are they going to that amenity, but they’re coming to our restaurants, they’re coming to our retailers and they’re staying overnight,” Nettles said on Visit College Station.

With that said, Phillips is looking at possibly expanding the park at its current location. He plans to meet with the city officials soon to see how they can all capitalize on the attention next summer. Until then, the final day one can visit The Cove for this season will be September 11.
