Alan Jackson’s daughter, Mattie Jackson, took to Instagram to share a heartfelt birthday message that sheds light on the special bond the two have and it touched the hearts of their followers.

Mattie Jackson, a talented writer and entrepreneur, has quite a story of her own. She describes her life as going from being a curious, hyperactive child to a creative writer, fueled by her desire to tell meaningful stories that change people’s lives.

After earning her Creative Writing degree at the University of Tennessee, Mattie ventured into various career paths, from hospitality to becoming a Certified Sommelier and even opening her own wine bar in Nashville. However, life took an unexpected turn when she tragically lost her husband, Ben, just three weeks before their first wedding anniversary due to a severe brain injury.

Writing Her Book To Deal With The Grief

During her grief and heartbreak, Mattie’s writing talents resurfaced, and she began journaling to process her emotions, fears, and faith. From this surreal and painful experience, she birthed her first book, Lemons on Friday: Trusting God Through My Greatest Heartbreak.

“Over these past years of grief and questions and healing, what I know with more certainty than ever before is that pain and joy DO coexist. Brokenness and beauty are so unfortunately yet mercifully intertwined. Even in my darkest hours, it was up to me to courageously choose to see joy in the world around me. And that’s where you can find me now – chasing joy on my own podcast, In-Joy Life!”

Starting Her Charity “NaSHEville” To Help Others

Additionally, she founded the NaSHEville foundation, which supports non-profits serving orphans, widows, and trafficked women, to help them in their times of need.

Mattie’s main message throughout her charity and her book is that, even though life is tough and can leave us feeling broken at times, you can still intentionally choose joy.

“No matter the hurt you’ve experienced or what unknowns may lie ahead, there IS joy waiting for you – right here, right now,” she wrote on her website.

Alan Jackson is certainly proud of his daughter for overcoming these obstacles and Mattie’s heartfelt birthday message to her father just shows how strong the love and bond they share is.
