American Idol: Hannah Harper Surprises Judges with Unexpected “Sultry” Performance

Hannah Harper left it all on the stage with her Top 5 performances on Monday night’s episode of American Idol.
It’s no surprise that Hannah Harper is one of the last five contestants standing on American Idol‘s 24th season. The young mom from Missouri captured America’s hearts with her audition performance of “String Cheese,” a song she wrote about the struggles and gift of motherhood.
Harper was considered an early frontrunner after her audition video went viral and “String Cheese” reached the streaming charts. In the weeks that have followed, Hannah has stayed true to herself and her folksy bluegrass style with consistent performances. She did that once again on Monday night with two different performances.

Her first performance was a cover of “Fever” by Peggy Lee. Professional dancers Rylee Arnold and Jan Ravnik supported her with a beautiful
“I thought it was beautiful. I thought it was uniquely different for you,” Luke Bryan complimented Hannah. “It was sexy. It was sultry. I needed a martini while I was watching. I loved that it was not what we expected from you.”
Guest judge Paula Abdul was in awe of Hannah, saying that there was “nobody, I mean nobody, that sounds like you in this competition. And it’s been beautiful to see how America has become so invested in you. You are lovely to look at. You are lovely to listen to.”
Lionel Richie and Carrie Underwood agreed, praising Hannah for her song choice and for surprising them by doing something they didn’t expect.
