Avery Anna Brings Ozzy To The Opry With Bold Heavy Metal Cover

One of country music’s rising stars has been stunning fans with her cover of a metal classic.
Now, she’s even performed it in the Circle of the Grand of the Ole Opry.
On Sunday, Oct. 11, Avery Anna performed at the Grand Ole Opry, and she rocked the house with her take on the late Ozzy Osbourne‘s 1991 hit “No More Tears.”

At the 61st ACM Awards in May, 22-year-old Avery Anna won New Female Artist of the Year. An unspoken part of winning an award like that is showing that you have range and personality… and Avery Anna has a unique showstopper that exemplifies such qualities.
Born in 2004, she wasn’t alive when Ozzy recorded the title track for his 1991 album No More Tears, but she’s made the song her own while staying true to the tone of the original.
“People either love it or they hate it,” Avery Anna told Bobby Bones on his podcast, The Bobby Cast, regarding her cover of Ozzy Osbourne’s “No More Tears,” adding, “It’s been like a war.”
Avery went on to share that reactions to her cover of “No More Tears” have brought in her first hate comments online.
In another interview, she recalled, “When I said we should cover ‘No More Tears,’ everyone kind of laughed at me a little bit, but I was dead serious, and I’m glad we did.”
The cover has since become a staple of her shows, and she even chose to perform it at the seat of country music: the Grand Ole Opry.
Guitar in hand, Avery Anna’s voice proves to be a unique match for Ozzy’s shrill opening vocals on “No More Tears.” Rather than country-fying it, she has chosen to relish in its heavy drop D guitar sound.
Captioning her video of the performance, Avery Anna wrote, “I swear I saw some heads banging at the Opry last night.”
