Bailey Zimmerman & Luke Combs Release A Brand New Collaboration Titled “Backup Plan”
Country music talents Luke Combs and Bailey Zimmerman have teamed up and released a new catchy song titled “Backup Plan.”
The hit, which reiterates the importance of persevering in life, all stemmed from a text message, Zimmerman explained.
“It’s crazy to think that this all started with one txt…” the country star wrote in an Instagram post announcing the song. ““Backup Plan” IS OUT NOW YALL🔥”
Zimmerman initially introduced the track as a solo anthem, sharing on his TikTok account that he had a birthday surprise for his fans.
“BDAY SURPRISE FOR YALL,” the singer announced. “I don’t know when I’m putting this out but ITS A BANGER.”
He posted the clip shortly after he faced backlash when videos circulated online of his drunken set at Crash My Playa 2025.
Zimmerman issued an apology following the ordeal, saying he was raised to “always be truthful and honest.”
“Last weekend, down in Cancun, Mexico, I’m sure everybody’s seen the videos of me playing absolutely awful, and singing absolutely awful – and I feel like you guys deserve an explanation from me, because you’ve had my back through the highs and lows, and through every mistake,” Zimmerman said at the time.
“I decided to drink that day, which was a mistake, and I got up onstage and I was too drunk to play – and I sang awful, I played awful, nobody got the show that they wanted or paid for, and I’m disappointed in myself. If you’ve been to my shows, you know how much I’ve talked about God since Day One, and it was an awful representation of that…To anybody, like I said, that’s embarrassed of me, I’m there. I’m embarrassed as well, and I’m going to do everything in my power to make sure that this never happens ever again. I want to show you guys the person that I truly am.”
It All Started With A Text Message
Zimmerman posted a screenshot of his message to Luke Combs on January 20 asking if the superstar would be interested in collaborating.
“I don’t know what you got going on this year as far as music but I’ve been wanting to send you this song for a while that I think me and you could crush… jam it and let me know what you think,” the text read.
Zimmerman later sent Combs an audio clip of the song and Combs reportedly was eager to join forces.
“Yo! This tune rips. I’m in,” Combs responded.
