The Voice is gearing up for a new season, and viewers can expect one major change from the past. For the first time ever, Grammy and Oscar-winning singer and actress Jennifer Hudson is joining the show as one of the coaches.
Hudson has a wealth of previous experience with singing competition shows. She first found her claim to fame on American Idol, which helped make superstars out of other singers such as Carrie Underwood and Kelly Clarkson.
As a former contestant on a singing show, Hudson seemed like the perfect choice to fill an empty red chair for the 2017 series of The Voice UK. She ended up winning the entire thing, proving that she has what it takes to be a great coach.
Now, Hudson is bringing the skills she learned from The Voice UK to the upcoming season of The Voice in the U.S. The show debuted a sneak peek clip of the season on Friday (August 25), which shows that Hudson is going to be a force to be reckoned with.
Joining Hudson are longtime coaches Adam Levine and Blake Shelton, as well as Miley Cyrus, who returns for her second season of coaching. Based on the sneak peek clip alone, we can already tell that this batch of coaches may produce some of the most hilarious moments the show has ever seen.
As expected, Shelton and Levine’s friendly feud takes over as the main source of comedic relief in the preview clip. One particularly hysterical moment appears at the end of the clip, and results in Shelton going off on Levine.
From the looks of it, Hudson appears to throw her shoe at a contestant every time she enjoys their performance and wants them on her team. It’s an unusual tactic, but we’re sure it will help catch the attention of the contestants!
On one occasion, Levine decided to stake his claim on a certain contestant by throwing his shoe at them before Hudson had the chance. Showing how desperate he was to have the contestant on his team, Levine also threw his jacket for good measure. But the hilarity unfolded when he acted as though he was going to take off his pants and throw them on the stage as well!
Shelton wasn’t going to stand for that, so he quickly let Levine know that such behavior is not acceptable. “Please leave your pants on,” Shelton said, shaking his head in disappointment.
That’s just one of many funny moments you can expect to see in the preview of the upcoming season of The Voice. Be sure to tune in when it airs on September 25 to see more hilarious antics!
