Gwen Stefani Reveals Why She Thinks Blake Shelton Is The ‘Sexiest Man Alive’

Blake Shelton was named this year’s “Sexiest Man Alive,” and from the sound of it, Gwen Stefani is to thank for it!

In promotion of her holiday album, You Make It Feel Like Christmas, Stefani met up with talk show host Ellen DeGeneres. However, the interview took a hilarious turn when the topic of the popstar’s relationship with the “Sexiest Man Alive” worked its way into the conversation. 

“Now is it true that you convinced him to do this?” asked DeGeneres, a picture of Shelton’s PEOPLE magazine cover story projected on the screen behind them. 

“It is true! I feel totally responsible because he’s so not that guy, he doesn’t even like to do a photoshoot! You can never convince him to do it,” explained Stefani. “So he just called me and was like, ‘They want me to do this,’ and I was like ‘You should totally do it!'”

The popstar went on to say she explained to him being named “Sexiest Man Alive” was not only well-deserved but a great opportunity with the recent release of his album Texoma Shore. After agreeing to accept the honor, negative opinions began to flood the internet, Stefani, of course, disagreeing with their accusations that Shelton isn’t deserving of the title. 

“It’s a PEOPLE magazine cover and people are taking it so seriously. If you think about it, what defines sexy? It really is so personal,” shared Stefani. “For me it’s just that big old heart and that sense of humor, you know? He doesn’t even take himself seriously, and he’s just such an incredible person.”

Shelton and Stefani initially met as coaches on The Voice, becoming virtually inseparable ever since. The lovebirds recently recorded a holiday-themed duet together for Stefani’s Christmas album in the form of swoon-worthy “You Make It Feel Like Christmas.”
