Chuck Berry was rock’s greatest practitioner, guitarist, and the greatest pure rock ‘n’ roll writer who ever lived.

But, it was Berry’s fellow rocker, Ted Nugent, to lit up Facebook with his stunning cover of “Johnny B. Goode.” In 2008, the song was ranked first on the “100 Greatest Guitar Songs of All Time” list, so Nugent had his work cut out for him. But the rocker did the song justice with his killer guitar skills and incredible vocals.
Nugent said of Berry’s death, “If ever there was an end of a monumental era in the history of mankind it happened today with the death of Chuck Berry. No one deserves the title of creator, founding father, Godfather, genius and wizard of rock ‘n’ roll more than his Majesty Chuck Berry.”
