Latest News On The Wildfires In Southern California
Country music star Brad Paisley is mourning “the loss of a town” as the former home he shared with his wife, Kimberly, was destroyed in the Palisades Fire in California.
The Palisades Fire is just one of multiple wildfires currently raging in Southern California. According to a Thursday morning (January 9) report from the Los Angeles Times, at least 130,000 residents are under evacuation orders. Five deaths have been confirmed so far, while at least 2,000 homes have been affected.
The Los Angeles Times reports that firefighters fought multiple fires overnight. However, intense winds, with gusts reaching up to 100 mph, made the battle challenging.
The Palisades Fire has caused the most damage so far, burning over 17,234 acres.
An early Thursday morning update from CNN states the Palisades Fire and Eaton Fire are 0% contained. The Hurst Fire is 10% contained, while the Lidia Fire is 60% contained. The Woodley Fire, which burnt 30 acres, is now 100% contained.

Brad Paisley Reveals His Former Home Was Destroyed In The Palisades Fire
The wildfires are ravaging an area that is heavily populated by celebrities, including movie stars and musical artists. While they no longer live there, Brad Paisley and his wife, Father of the Bride actress Kimberly Williams-Paisley, bought their first home together in Pacific Palisades.
That home has since been destroyed by the Palisades Fire. Brad shared his heartbreak in a post on social media, writing:
“We lived in Pacific Palisades for years. It was the first house Kim and I bought together. Memories were made with some of our dearest friends- the first nursery we had to prep, the birthing classes with @kevinnealon and @sukiyeagley. Walking to the local restaurants, the Gelson’s, and the Starbucks. That beautiful old house burned last night. As did most of that community. So many good people displaced, devastated and cast out all over LA.”
Brad said he would share a link to donate or raise awareness, but he feels this situation is “so much bigger than that.”
“I don’t know where to begin,” he wrote. “I’m sure those of you reading this will find some way to help if you can, but mostly right now I just want to mourn the loss of a town. And acknowledge the beauty and the memories of what it was. It is all so tragic and sad. Love to you all.”
Kimberly commented on Brad’s post, writing, “Beautiful post, thank you. I don’t have the words right now.”
