One month after actor and comedian Bob Saget died in Florida, and his official cause of death has been released.

Bob Saget died January 9 at the age of 65. The actor was found deceased in his hotel room at the Ritz-Carlton in Orlando the day after a performing a two-hour standup routine.

After family members were unable to reach Saget, they contacted hotel security to check on him. When they entered the room they found Saget in bed and there were no signs of foul play.

“I checked the immediate area for signs of foul play. It should be noted none were found. The room itself was orderly with items owned by Mr. Saget on the nightstand, television stand, closet and bathroom,” a report reads, with the responding officer stating “no signs of trauma were seen.”

No drugs were found in the room, only medications prescribed to Saget, per the report.

Authorities speculated at the time that a likely cause of death was a heart attack or stroke, but the official cause of death released February 9 reveal that was not the case. TMZ reports that Bob Saget died from a brain bleed after hitting his head. It’s unknown what he may have hit, but there was an “obvious bruise on the back of his head.” It’s likely that Saget didn’t realize the severity of his injury and went to sleep.

Bob Saget’s family confirmed the news with a statement issued to media.

“Now that we have the final conclusions from the authorities’ investigation, we felt it only proper that the fans hear those conclusions directly from us. The authorities have determined that Bob passed away from head trauma. They have concluded that he accidentally hit the back of his head on something, thought nothing of it and went to sleep. No drugs or alcohol were involved.”

“In the weeks since Bob’s passing, we have been overwhelmed with the incredible outpouring of love from Bob’s fans, which has been a great comfort to us and for which we are eternally grateful,” the statement continued. “As we continue to mourn together, we ask everyone to remember the love and laughter that Bob brought to this world, and the lessons he taught us all: to be kind to everyone, to let the people you love know you love them, and to face difficult times with hugs and laughter.”

Our thoughts and prayers continue to be with Bob Saget’s loved ones.
