Carrie Underwood Albums Soar To Top Of iTunes Charts Following Inauguration Performance
on Jan 21, 2025
Carrie Underwood’s performance at Monday’s inauguration ceremony caused sales of her albums to surge.
Monday (January 20) was a historic day for America as Donald Trump was sworn in as the 47th President of the United States. But Carrie Underwood stole the spotlight for a bit after her performance of “America The Beautiful.”
Underwood’s performance was expected to be a highlight of the day, but no one expected it to become the viral moment that it became.
After Donald Trump took the oath of office, Carrie was escorted to the stage where she stood in front of now-former president Joe Biden and former vice-president Kamala Harris. The American Idol winner waited patiently for her accompaniment track to play, but technical difficulties ensued, leading Carrie to sing the song a cappella.
Cameras captured the moment Carrie told the event coordinator that she could “just sing it.” She invited the crowd to “help” and sing along. The result was a beautiful and unexpected bipartisan sing-along that showed a rare moment of unity.

Social media noticed and was immediately overrun with messages of praise for Underwood, who handled the potentially awkward moment with grace.
Fans not only showed their support with social media, but also with their wallets.
Carrie Underwood’s 13-year-old album, Greatest Hits: Decade #1, shot to the top of the iTunes Top 40 Country Albums chart. Right behind, in the #2 position, was her 2021 gospel album, My Savior.
As of press time, Underwood has three albums in the Top 10, five total in the Top 40. Her 2012 release, Blown Away, sits at #8, 2023’s Denim & Rhinestones (Deluxe Edition) is at #12, and Play On from 2009 is at #40.
Despite initial backlash about her participating in Donald Trump’s inauguration events, fans ultimately agreed that she owned her “America The Beautiful” performance.
“I mean…let’s just have one more conversation about what freaking class act @carrieunderwood was today. Not only did she wing it flawlessly, she invited the crowd, and she didn’t run away with the song or add anything crazy. It was a group project and she sounded like an angel,” one fan wrote on X.
Another wrote, “This is what a professional looks like. With grace, when the military band audio failed, she sang her song with the audience. All American and perfect.”
