The Country Artist Shared Who He Called First, And More, Following His ACM Victory
When Cody Johnson won the ACM Award for Entertainer of the Year, he appeared to be genuinely shocked.
Arriving at the podium to accept the award, he even noted, “I had this speech prepared, and I kind of gave it away on the last award.”
Earlier in the evening of the 61st ACM Awards, which were held in Las Vegas on May 17, CoJo won the award for Male Artist of the Year.
Accepting that award, he thanked his savior, saying, “Without the grace, and the mercy, and the forgiveness of Jesus, I wouldn’t be here tonight.”
He went on to thank his wife of 17 years, Brandi, who he noted was at home with their three children.

What Did Cody Johnson Do Immediately After Winning Entertainer Of The Year?
Harrison Yount, who plays steel guitar in Cody Johnson’s band, shared a video to social media of him and CoJo’s other bandmates awaiting the result of Entertainer of the Year.
Needless to say, when Johnson’s name was announced, the band went wild.
Speaking with Extra and Billboard, Cody noted that chaotic scene was where he first found himself after the evening’s big win.
“So I went and I celebrated with my boys on the bus — for just a minute — and then I was like, ‘OK, I need a minute. I gotta call Brandi,'” Johnson recalled.

When he got ahold of Brandi on Facetime, he noted that she asked, “Are you alone?”
Cody then laughed as he shared that Brandi was nursing the youngest of their three children, Jaycee, adding, “So I had to go to a room by myself.”
Now, per his statement with Extra, CoJo is on his way to Alaska for a 10-day bear hunting excursion. That flight left at 10 a.m. on May 18.
