‘Dancing With the Stars’ Makes History With First-Ever Super Bowl Theme Week

Dancing With The Stars is officially doing a theme they have never done before!
Season 30 of the hit show is officially underway, and its theme nights are already generating plenty of buzz. The premiere technically did not have a theme, but all the celebrities danced to songs that went to No. 1 the year they were born.
Week 2’s theme was Viral Hits and featured songs that went viral on social media in recent years. September 29th episode was Yacht Rock Night, where celebrities danced to songs from Toto, Luther Vandross, The Doobie Brothers, Hall & Oates and more.
Dancing With The Stars Announces All But One Theme Night
Nearly the entire list of themes for Season 35 was unveiled on September 18 during an episode of the Official Dancing With The Stars Podcast hosted by Andy Richter.
See the full list of theme nights he revealed in that episode:
- Week 2 (September 22) – Viral Hits
- Week 3 (September 29) – Yacht Rock
- Week 4 (October 6) – Mariah Carey
- Week 6 (October 20) – Dedication Night
- Week 7 (October 27) – Horror Movie Night
- Week 8 (November 3) – Disney Night
- Week 9 (November 10) – Grammy Night
- Week 10 (November 17) – Semi-Finals
- Week 11 (November 24) – Finale
Fans noticed that Week 5, or October 13th, was notably absent from the theme night reveal. Many thought that because of it being the 13th, there being a past Taylor Swift night, and one of her tour dancers being a pro on the show, that it would be another Taylor Swift night.
DWTS Announced The Week 5 Theme, Which Has Never Been Done Before
On Wednesday morning (Sep 20), Good Morning America recapped Yacht Rock Night, which saw singer Taylor Hanson and Britt Stewart sent home.
They also revealed what the long-awaited theme if for Week 5 on October 13th: the show’s first-ever Super Bowl Night!
The stars will be dancing to songs that have been part of Super Bowl halftime shows over the years! Seeing as the upcoming 2027 Super Bowl will be broadcast on ESPN and ABC, this theme night seems perfect!
And, the show has had several Super Bowl-winning NFL stars including Emmett Smith, Vonn Miller, Hines Ward, Donald Driver, Jerry Rice, Jacoby Jones, and more.
