Dolly Parton was scheduled to appear at her Dollywood on Friday (Aug. 13) to dedicate the theme park’s newest ride, NightFlight Expedition.

A statement issued by Dollywood spokesperson Wes Ramey on Thursday afternoon informed fans that there had been a change of plans, and Dolly would no longer be making an in-person appearance.

“Unfortunately, our Dreamer-in-Chief is unable to join us for the festivities, but she will still take part in the excitement via video,” Ramey shared.

Ramey didn’t reveal the reason behind the cancelation, but said that Dolly would address it during her video message.

Dolly’s public appearances have become fewer in recent months.

The “Jolene” singer withdrew from a series of Las Vegas shows, citing “a few little health issues.” She explained that the health issues were due to kidney stones and other problems that were exacerbated by grief following the death of her husband, Carl Dean, in March 2025.

Her most recent public appearance was on June 24, when she surprised attendees at the grand opening of her Dolly’s Tennessean Travel Stop in Cornersville, Tennessee.

Fans React To Dolly’s Canceled Appearance

While those who had purchased tickets to Dollywood in hopes of catching a glimpse of the icon were disappointed at the news, they were overwhelmingly more concerned about her well-being.

Messages of support flooded social media with fans sharing prayers and love. “Her health is more important. Wishing her healing for better health,” one fan wrote. Others wrote, “Her health comes first!” “We love you Dolly,” and “Dolly may not be there in person, but her spirit will shine through! Praying for Dolly.”
