“Dutton Ranch” Confrontation Leaves One Man Dead In Episode 6
on Jun 12, 2026

Dutton Ranch dropped its sixth episode, meaning we are now two-thirds done with the first season.
When we last saw these characters, Beth had just struck a deal with Beulah Jackson, Rob-Will returned from rehab unbeknownst to his family, and Rip joined the rival 10 Petal as their new foreman.
Episode 5 ended with Beth and Rip revealing their new business ventures to each other with the 10 Petal, with Rip warning his wife to be careful because he found a dead body on their land.
This post contains spoilers for Episode 6 of Dutton Ranch. If you need to catch up, read our full recaps of Episodes 1-5 here.
Dutton Ranch Episode 6 – “A Cowboy Saint”
The episode begins and we meet Azul’s wife. Viewers find out they are expecting their first child as he is building a crib. We also find out that Rip’s employment at the 10 Petal also includes Azul and Zachariah, so he is getting ready to leave.
Beth, Rip, and Carter are getting ready for their day, and Carter seems down (we know it’s because he witnessed his friend Dwight be killed by the Sheriff), but he’s hiding the reason from the two people who took him in.
“I know there’s been a lot of change around here, but we’re gonna get through it together, like a family,” Beth tells him, thinking that his depressed mood is because they left him out of the cattle’s FMD situation.
Rip can sense there’s more to his sadness than just cattle, so he asks if something else is wrong, but Carter dismisses them.
From here, we will recap by character.
Rip, Azul, and the 10 Petal Cowboys
After the intro, Azul and Zachariah are getting their horses ready for their first day at the 10 Petal, and Azul says that his father is probably rolling in his grave right now. Remember, Azul’s dad was the foreman at Dutton Ranch, formerly the Edwards Ranch, for the majority of his life.
Rip informs them the 10 Petal has a new herd of Angus, which Beth orchestrated, who needs branding, so Zachariah will be staying overnight to keep watch on the herd, and also the guys in the bunkhouse.
Rip, Azul, Zachariah, and the 10 Petal cowboys await the delivery of the Angus.
While branding the new Angus herd, Azul and Zachariah build rapport with 10 Petal ranch hand Austin, who had recently returned from the hospital after a brutal beating from former interim foreman Chet when he questioned him on the whereabouts of Wes (who was killed by Rob-Will in Episode 1)
After they cowboys finish up branding the herd, and after some playful back-and-forth, Austin challenges Azul to one-hand roping for his belt buckle. This should be interesting because Austin is played by professional team roper Sterlin English, who has been roping professionally since he was 13 years old.
The cowboys show off their roping skills during their team roping challenge, showing viewers that these are actors, but they’re also the real deal. Austin roped the head incredibly fast, but his hoof guy let go of his rope, so their time didn’t count. Azul and Zachariah line up for their turn and they show the young boys how it’s done in 5.5 seconds, beating the rest of the 10 Petal cowboys, who clocked in at nearly seven seconds.
Carter and Oreana
On the lake, Carter and Oreana talk about Dwight, and the 19-year-old finally opens up to her about all the loss he has experienced in life. He reveals that he lacks an identity because he’s had no choice but to go where he’s taken and do what he’s told to do.
He professes his love for Oreana, who says that they probably don’t know what love is. Their conversation is interrupted by a slew of text messages, likely from her father Rob-Will, who just came back into town.
Rob-Will and Chet
At the local motel, Rob-Will (Jai Courtney) and Chet (Hart Denton) hang out while they come up with a plan. Later, they buy several guns from some sketchy looking guy.

Rob-Will and Chet move their pity party to the 10 Petal land, where they talk about how the ranch is rightfully theirs.
“Nobody understands what we’ve done to protect this ranch, and no one knows what we’d do to hold on to it,” Rob-Will says to Chet.
He hands a gun to the recently fired cowboy and tells him, “We ain’t gonna let nobody take what’s rightfully ours.”
Chet’s plot will continue into Joaquin’s story.
Joaquin
Joaquin walks into a cowboy hat store, where purchases a hat that costs upwards of $2,000, likely because he wants to prove to Beulah that he has what it takes to take over the 10 Petal, even though he’s never done a day of cowboying in his life.
Joaquin arrives and asks Rip to have a drink with him, who says he will come up to the house when he’s done.

Chet walks up the long driveway to the Jackson residence to confront Joaquin once again. They have a heated exchange and Chet shoots Joaquin in the hand. As Chet is about to pull the trigger again, the cowboy is shot in the head. Miguel appears from the shadows, and Joaquin thanks him.
Rip hears the gunshots from the barn and eventually arrives to help Joaquin get cleaned up, and not at a hospital. Joaquin sees Rip’s hand on his gun, so now he knows Rip isn’t messing around.
As Rip is driving, he stops to question Joaquin about Wes Ayers.
“I want to know who put the body on my property,” he says.
Joaquin tells Rip everything about how Wes was Chet and Rob-Will’s drug dealer, but things got out of control.
“He always saw himself like a prince who never became king, so the kingdom be damned,” Joaquin said.
Joaquin told Rip that after Rob-Will returns from rehab, he has a job lined up for him in Botswana, not knowing that he is back in Rio Paloma.
“He’s never coming back, Rip. And if he does, I’ll fucking kill him,” Joaquin promises. Rip drops off Joaquin at Everett’s house to get medical attention.
Beulah and Beth
At the Jackson’s residence, we see Everett emerge and it’s clear as day that Beulah has incredibly strong feelings for him. To end their conversation she asked him to be her date at her upcoming 190th Anniversary party for the 10 Petal.
Beulah and Beth celebrate their meeting at the hotel bar, realizing they are more alike than they initially thought. Beulah reveals that Rob-Will is her biological son and his dad passed away before she gave birth. She opened up about Joaquin’s father, a ranch hand of hers who got on the “wrong side of the law.”

Beulah brings up Beth’s brother Jamie in their conversation about taking in sons who are not biologically theirs, which strikes a chord with Beth: “I don’t think about him anymore.”
It’s clear Beulah knows the history of the Dutton family, because she pries again, saying that it’s interesting that her brother disappeared after the murder of her father.
And that’s where the episode ends.
