Former American Idol Contestant Accused Of Murder
37-year-old mother, teacher, and volleyball coach Ashley Flynn was killed in her home in Tipp City, Ohio, in February. Her husband, Caleb Flynn, a former American Idol contestant, called 911 after reportedly discovering her body on February 16. He initially told authorities that her death was the result of a home invasion.
Tipp City Police Chief Greg Adkins later confirmed that Ashley died from a gunshot wound. Despite the violent nature of the crime, he stated that it appeared to be “a targeted incident,” adding that there was no indication the community was in danger.
Just three days later, on February 19, authorities arrested Caleb in connection with Ashley’s murder.

Caleb Flynn Indicted On Several Charges
Caleb was indicted last month on several charges, including aggravated murder, two counts of murder, two counts of felonious assault, three counts of tampering with evidence, and two counts of witness intimidation. The most serious charges(aggravated murder, murder, and felonious assault) also include firearm specifications.
Court documents further allege that between February 16 and February 18, the 39 year old attempted to intimidate a witness because the person was believed to have information related to a criminal or delinquent act.
Caleb was a contestant on Season 12 of American Idol. He impressed then-judges Mariah Carey, Randy Jackson, Nicki Minaj, and Keith Urban, with his audition performance of “Lean On Me” and earned a Golden Ticket to Hollywood Week.
The Flynn’s were well-known in the Tipp City, Ohio, community. Ashley worked as a substitute teacher, coached 7th-grade girls volleyball, and also taught at a local Bible-based academy.

Caleb Flynn’s Trial Delayed, Defense Moves To Delay A Second Time
His trial was initially scheduled to begin on April 28, with a pretrial hearing that took place March 30. On April 15th, however, a local news outlet shared that Caleb’s trial date had been pushed back. According to the motion, the report arrived on Saturday, April 11, and was immediately turned over to Flynn’s defense.
Now, Flynn’s defense team has filed a motion for an additional 21-day delay, local news reports. According to Flynn’s defense attorney, L. Patrick Mulligan, the motion was filed in anticipation of receiving an “expert opinion in the near future.”
If the judge approves the request, the defense would have a legally mandated 21 days to provide the review to the prosecution. If the judge denies the motion, the trial will begin as scheduled on May 4.
