Gabby Barrett showed off her patriotism and her versatility as a performer with a live cover of a Toby Keith classic.
America was first introduced to Gabby Barrett on season 16 of American Idol (2018), where she placed third among the competitors. She quickly caught the attention of fans with her impressive vocal range despite her young age. It was during the show that she met her now-husband, Cade Foehner, and the pair has welcomed three children.
Since her time on Idol, Gabby has released three studio albums and earned two multi-platinum hits with “I Hope” and “The Good Ones.” In 2021, she took home the ACM Award for New Female Artist of the Year.
Currently, Gabby is on the road with Parker McCollum for his 2026 tour. During their stop in Cleveland, Ohio, on July 24th, she treated the crowd to her own rendition of one of Toby Keith‘s most well-known songs, “Courtesy of the Red, White, and Blue.”
The song has dual inspirations: Toby’s father’s death in March 2001 and the September 11 attacks on the United States later that year. The late country star had never planned to release the song and would only play it at live shows for the troops. However, at the urging of the Marine Corps Commandant, he eventually put it on record in 2002. It has been a patriotic staple ever since.
Gabby began the song a cappella, and a chorus of cheers erupted from the crowd. It is no easy task to take a melody originally intended for a male voice and make it fit seamlessly within a female range. However, Gabby proved she was up to the task and delivered a stellar rendition of the song.

Gabby Barrett Performs At the TPUSA Alternative Super Bowl Halftime Show
This is not the first time that Gabby Barrett has put her patriotism on full display. In February, she was one of the performers for the Turning Point USA All-American Halftime Show alongside Lee Brice, Brantley Gilbert, Kid Rock, and more.
The program was broadcast live as an alternative viewing option for those who did not wish to watch Bad Bunny’s performance at the official Super Bowl halftime show. For the occasion, Gabby performed her two biggest hits: “I Hope” and “The Good Ones.”
