One lucky collector will soon be the new owner of a vintage Corvette once owned by the King of Country, George Strait.

A pristine 1958 Chevrolet Corvette is now for sale by GAA Classic Cars. But what makes this car more special than its design, age, or performance is its history. The vehicle was owned by George Strait, and the sellers boast the documentation to prove it.

The vehicle was in Strait’s possession in the late 1980s, although the exact dates are unknown. An insurance card shows that George and his wife, Norma Strait, were covered on the car’s policy term from 1987 to 1988. The documentation also includes a registration receipt from 1989 with George’s name on it.

Decades later, while in the ownership of Robert Juniper, George Strait’s Corvette sat on display in the National Corvette Museum in Bowling Green, Kentucky (November 2012 to January 2013).

Additional Details Of George Strait’s Corvette

1958 marked a significant turning point for Corvette models. It was the first year to feature quad headlights and to introduce the heavily chromed, muscular styling that would come to define the final years of the solid-axle era.

Distinctive touches included a louvered hood and the signature “toothy” grille. Chevrolet produced 9,168 Corvettes that year, a notable increase that helped solidify the two-seat sports car as a permanent fixture in the automaker’s lineup.

The convertible is powered by a 283/245hp V-8 Engine with a four-speed manual transmission. The Signet red paint job is matched by a custom red leather interior. Additional features include bucket seats, a heater, and electric wipers.

The special Corvette is expected to cross the auction block on Saturday, November 6th, during the GAA Classic Cars sale located at 301 Norwalk Street in Greensboro, North Carolina.

Additionally, the purchase of the vehicle will include memorabilia such as “photographs, articles, and other items related to the vehicle’s ownership history.” Full details and auction information can be found here.
