According to The Hindu, two goats have been arrested by the police in a town called Huzurabad located in India for grazing on some sapling plants that were planted by the “Save The Trees” organization.

The Goats Were Captured

The goats were captured by two Save The Trees organization volunteers, Anil and Vikranth after finding them munching on over 250 out of the 900 saplings planted by the organization.

“We got the goats tied to a pillar and informed the owner, Dornakonda Rajaiah, a resident of Kummariwada. He came to the police station on Wednesday morning and we asked him to pay a fine of Rs 1,000 to the local municipality authorities for letting the goats graze on the saplings planted as part of afforestation programme. We let the goats off only after he paid the penalty,” Madhavi said.

The goats were only released after the owner had to pay ₹1,000 (which is $14.07 in United States dollars) to get them out of police custody according to Inspector Madhavi.

Warned To Not Bring The Goats To The Area

Technically they can not arrest or punish an animal so they didn’t register a case on the matter. However, the owner was warned to not bring the goats to the area again. Vikrant and Anil from the organization were definitely upset about it because it took them over a year to plant all the trees.

“We planted over 980 trees in the town so far and have been taking care of them by watering them and trimming them as and when required. Unfortunately, we don’t have funds to buy tree guards, which is the reason why we couldn’t prevent them from being eaten by goats and other cattle,” Vikrant said.

Activist Are Planning to Replant the Trees

Later Vikrant and Anil caught another 10 goats grazing on the organization’s saplings before they could do a lot of damage. Now the activist are planning to replant the trees on October 2nd which marks the 150th anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. The only video that was available was in Hindu so instead, we got this video below about the funniest goats.
