Kellie Pickler Finally Settles Bitter Family Estate Battle Nearly 4 Years After Husband’s Death
on

Over three years after her husband Kyle Jacobs passed away, Kellie Pickler has finally put her legal battle with his parents behind her.
Country songwriter Kyle Jacobs passed away from a self-inflicted gunshot wound in the home he shared with his wife on February 17, 2023. He and Kellie Pickler were married on January 11, 2011 up until his death.

Fans fell in love with them on their CMT reality show I Love Kellie Pickler, and during the singer’s 2011 run – and eventual win – on Dancing With The Stars.
Following the tragic news that Jacobs had taken his own life, Pickler declined to be an administrator of his estate, leaving Jacobs’ parents, Reed and Sharon Jacobs, to be co-administrators.
Kellie & Her Former In-Laws Have Been In A Legal Battle Since 2024
When Reed and Sharon took over the estate, they allegedly spent months trying to recover their son’s personal items they believed to be still in Pickler’s possession.
These items included firearms, a Rolex watch, musical instruments, baseball cards, awards, electronics, and photographs.
In December 2024, Pickler filed a legal petition asking the court to intervene and claimed that her in-laws had entered her home without permission and took items without telling her. Pickler also stated she did not have possession of everything they were looking for and did not know the ownership of some others.
The court documents read, “A dispute has arisen amongst the parties regarding certain personal property allegedly in [Kyle’s] possession prior to his death.”
The Jacobses filed their own motion stating that Kellie invited them over and approved of the items they took. They also asked that her petition be dropped.

In April 2025, the legal battle intensified with the Jacobses submitted a subpoena to Harpeth Hills Memory Gardens Funeral Home & Cremation Center, where their son was cremated, to request documents reveal what items, if any, were cremated along with him and any documents “pertaining to the services provided on behalf of Kyle.”
In November 2025, a judge sided with Pickler to throw out the Jacobses’ subpoena to the funeral home, stating that Kyle’s parents only submitted a subpoena and not an actual filing. You can’t subpoena anything without a court order.
Kellie and The Jacobs Family Have Settled Their Dispute
Now, as we are nearing four years since Kyle’s passing, Kellie and his parents have come to a settlement.
According to TMZ, the two parties have reached a “confidential settlement” over Kyle’s property.
While we don’t know the details, we wish everyone the best moving forward and pray that they were able to get the peace they were all hoping for.
