PEOPLE Reveals 2024’s “Sexiest Man Alive”
Country music superstar Luke Combs had a hilarious response when he learned that PEOPLE named him the sexiest 34-year-old man on the planet.
PEOPLE published its first “Sexiest Man Alive” issue in 1985, awarding the title to Mel Gibson. Since then, the magazine has recognized celebrities such as Blake Shelton, John Legend, Adam Levine, Bradley Cooper, and Harrison Ford as the “Sexiest Man Alive.”
This year (2024), PEOPLE bestowed the title on John Krasinski, star of The Office and A Quiet Place.

While one man is named the “Sexiest Man Alive,” PEOPLE also recognizes other attractive men in the magazine. This year, they published a spread recognizing handsome men of every age.
PEOPLE tossed the spotlight on Luke Combs, recognizing him as the sexiest 34-year-old man in the world. Of course, many of his fans agree!
Luke Combs Jokes About Being Named The Sexiest 34-Year-Old Man Alive
Combs felt honored, yet also confused by the recognition. He shared his hilarious reaction to the news during an interview with PEOPLE on the red carpet at the 2024 CMA Awards.
Combs said his mother, of all people, was the person who sent him the article that named him as the sexiest 34-year-old man on Earth.
“That’s when I was like, ‘Down year, 1990, must’ve been a down year,'” he joked. “I thought it was the most-cheeseburgers-eaten list, is what I thought it was. And then to see this guy on there, I was like, ‘Man, times are tough in 1990 for me to be the hottest guy.'”
Still, Combs joked that he was hanging his new title “over everyone’s head” at the CMA Awards that night.
“They were like, ‘It’s not on the notecard.’ It doesn’t have to be baby, I got curb appeal,” he said. “I could walk up, you know: I’m the sexiest 34-year-old man — not in the room, on the globe, apparently.”
As for what his wife, Nicole, thinks of the whole thing, Combs says she heard a lot about it (from him). “She’s never heard the end of it,” he teased.
